Let's Investigate Butterflies!

 

While you are doing your investigation you will need:

*pencil

Before you begin

Please be sure that you read all questions and instructions carefully!

SECTION 1

We will start our investigation by answering the following questions.

SECTION 2

 

 THE BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE

Be sure to click on the icons.

1. How many stages are in the life cycle of a butterfly?

2. What are the names of each of the stages of a butterfly's life cycle?

3. How long does it take for the butterfly to go through its life cycle?

4. During the butterfly life cycle did you begin to notice that the butterfly starting looking like its parent? If so, in which stage did you notice this?

 

NEXT

You are now ready to make a sketch of the butterfly life cycle. It may be best to do this on notebook paper first, and then make a full color strip drawing later. Please see Mrs. Smith for the paper and template when you are ready for your final drawing. Be sure to include:

* A title for your drawing

* Labeled sections for each stage of the cycle

 

SECTION 3

THE REPORT

You are now ready to complete your report.  Use the information you have found about butterflies and write a report.  Your paper should have at least three paragraphs.  Include a description of the butterfly you found the most interesting, its habitat, the food it eats, and its life cycle. The report may be neatly handwritten or typed.

 

SECTION 4

THE PRESENTATION

You will present your report and strip drawing of the life cycle to the class.  Be sure to practice before your presentation!
